The Standard WOMEN Ruth Millett It's Not Necessarily So Cool, creamy rice pudding laced with peanut brittle is a summer treat Daily Recipes day and at snack-time, too.

It does yeoman menu service as first course (appetizers of Rice Stuffed Mushrooms), main dish (Beef-Rice Stroganoff), main dish complement (Deviled Rice), salad (Golden Rice Salad), and dessert, Peanut Brittle Parfait. For snacks, serve Calas, those delightful New Orleans-styled rice fritters. Because rice can be used in 80 many ways, smart homemakers keep a supply of cooked rice hand at all times. Cooked rice keeps in the refrigerator for one week and in the home freezer up to eight months. Cover rice before refrigerating and place in freezer container before freezing.

To reheat cooked rice in saucepan, add two table- (not congoleum) and find rust spots on your floor, try this method. Be sure to scrub gently! It does work. Heloise Dear Heloise: Recently, after having a broken arm and not being able to scour the pots and pans, especially the egg cups of our egg poacher I discovered that I could place a paper bake cup in each egg cup, add a small amount of butter, and then replace the lid until the butter was melted (or one could use liquid shortening). I then add my eggs, after the butter has melted, and cook as usual. By inverting the egg cup the paper slips out easily.

Presto! No scouring at all. Mrs. H. E. S.

Smooth as whistle and works beautifully. Heloise Dear Heloise: The devilish propensity of a turnip for rolling while one is trying to (fearfully) slice it, led me to consider cutting a small piece off the round side, which induced stability, and I haven't cut off a finger since! Juliette Fuell Dear Heloise: When it comes time to clean your windows, I want to offer a little hint. The windows with metal guards always leave skinned knuckles when you reach through to the pane from the outside. Try using sponge dish mop with handie about 12 inches long. This will clean the window and not leave the streaks which is a cloth leaves.

Besides it saves you many bandages! Mrs. E. M. A. FIVE-0-TAXI LTD.

Her explanation: Her husband asked her to meet him to help him choose a new hat. Like a lot of other husbands, hers has evidently been made so aware of his wife's superior taste he has reached the point where he doesn't trust himself to select a hat without her help. It's dreadful the way women have managed to set ourselves up as the final authority in the family on all matters of taste. Dad looks longingly at a comfortable chair in a department store, and we tell him it would look horrible in the living room. He meekly accepts the verdict.

He announces that he is going to buy a new suit and mom either tags along to make sure he gets what she thinks is right, or gives him explicit directions about the kind of suit to buy. Even when he goes down and selects a gift for his wife to surprise her on her birthday or wedding anniversary, she may sneak back to the store and exchange it for something she likes better. No wonder the poor men don't trust their own ability to pick out anything without first consulting mom. We have managed to convince them that we know what's best for the whole family- and it ain't necessarily so! Cigarettes Affect Pregnancy? NEW YORK (UPI) -'In a study of 5,381 white women members of the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Dr. Jacob Yerushalmy, of the University of California, found that almost twice as many smokers as nonsmokers failed to carry their babies to term.

French Canadian Woman Canada Council Member The crunchiness of peanut brittle and the tenderness of rice make the pair an excellent beginning for a cool summer dessert. For Peanut Brittle Parfait, steam cooked rice in milk until milk is absorbed. Cool.

Then blend with whipped cream, flavored with honey and nutmeg, and chill. Spoon the chilled mixture into parfait glasses (or use your prettiest goblets) alternately with peanut brittle combined with coconut macaroon crumbs. Results? Delectable! Rice is an excellent choice for any summer meal. It takes little time to cook, needs no pre-cooking preparation, and is ready to serve as it comes from the cooking pot. It may be used at any meal of the HINTS compare By HELOISE CRUSE Dear Heloise: A delightful way to put sparkle in the eyes of children is by making a money birthday cake.

After the cake has been baked, small openings or slits can be made with a knife in the cake at intervals all the way around, so that each piece of cake will include some money. Pennies, nickels and dimes will thrill the children. For sanitary purposes, the money should be wrapped in foil before inserting it in the cake. When this money is slipped into the openings and the cake is frosted, the money birthday cake is complete and you become the children's favorite hostess. Grace Jamison Dear Heloise: If you have had numerous complaints from readers, simllar to one of your reader's sad experience with lined rubber gloves, perhaps my letter will help them.

When I am finished with cleaning job, I wash my rubber gloves with soap and water while they are still on my hands. After I take them off rinse the insides with first and then cold water under the faucet. I then turn down the top or gauntlet of the gloves so that three fourths of them are actually inside out, except the fingers. I stand the gloves up on the gauntlet edge on clean paper towel so that they will dry thoroughly. My gloves are fresh smelling and ready for use the next time they are needed.

Mrs. Roma Martin Dear Heloise: I remove rust stains from my linoleum and asphalt tile floors by sprinkling a powdered cleanser on the spots and then scrubbing gently with a soap-filled pad, using just enough water to make good paste. This usually gets off most, if not all, of the spots. Carolyn Sommers Ladies, when you remove an appliance from your phalt or inlaid Hineoleum floor Receptions Mr. and Mrs.

However, the mortality rate for the premature infants of non-smokers was strikingly per 1,000 against 137.7 per 1,000 for those of smokers.

What is the significance? Are premature babies of mothers who smoke hardier than those of abstainers? Most unlikely, said Dr. Yerushalmy. He said he cited the figures merely to show how, in connection with smoking, statistics can mislead.
