We are pleased to announce that Partners' Chief Administrative Officer Rachel Porter will assume the role of Deputy Chief Executive Officer on Aug. 1, 2024. Rachel brings over 25 years of experience in both public and private health care sectors to her new role as Deputy CEO for Partners. For 12 years, she has been instrumental in shaping the landscape of North Carolina's pioneering public managed behavioral healthcare system. Since joining Partners in May 2018, Rachel has led the organization's communication and engagement strategy, with a special focus on fostering close connections with members, providers and community stakeholders. "I am profoundly grateful to assume the role of Deputy CEO at Partners, where it is truly a gift to serve our members, families, providers and stakeholders every day,” she said. “My years in the LME/MCO (local management entity/managed care organization) system have deepened my understanding of our members’ diverse and unique needs, and I believe North Carolina’s distinctive public system of behavioral health, I/DD and TBI managed care is the very best approach to deliver essential services and supports to members and families within their communities. Committed to Partners’ mission, I look forward to working hand-in-hand with our CEO and our extraordinary team to shape our system so that it best serves the interests of our members and communities.” Read more: https://bit.ly/3Xcpoqq #ImprovingLives #StrengtheningCommunities

Let’s talk about Men’s Mental Health Month. Why? Because statistically, men are less likely to talk about it themselves. A UK study published last year found that 40% of men surveyed about their mental health haven't spoken to anyone about their feelings because they are too embarrassed or feel there is a negative stigma, among other reasons. Our partner, loneliness and social health solution @PyxHealth, has reported similar hesitation in the members they serve: While men and women face similar rates of loneliness, men are much less likely to reach out for help. Only about 1 in 4 Pyx Health users who decide to onboard are men. That delay in reaching out for help may contribute to a higher acuity of loneliness in men as well, with 15% of male Pyx users ranking at the highest tier of loneliness when they finally engage.Social stigma surrounding masculinity historically discourages emotional expression, making it difficult for men to acknowledge their loneliness or seek help. Limited social connections are increasingly a factor as well.Better understanding of these challenges helps us create safe spaces for open communication and provide resources that cater to the unique needs and experiences of all people.
