#35236 Jan, What is your callsign? From your description of what happened, I do not think this is a case of a corrupt database, but I will examine it and let you know. Look in that copy of your Documents\N1MM Logger+\Databases folder for any files matching the name of your database. There should be one file with a .s3db suffix, and there may be files with .wal and .shm suffixes. ZIP those together and send them to me. Also, look in the ...\Databases\TransactionLogFiles directory for any .trn files with the name and date of this contest. ZIP them together in a separate file and send them as well. -larry (K8UT) toggle quoted messageShow quoted text ------ Original Message ------ From: adresrjv@... #35243 Jan, Make sure you do not allow mirroring, computer scanning, or backup of the Logger+ Databases directory while the program is running. These programs do not know how to deal with cache files and are a cause of database corruption. #35247 Jan GOOD NEWS Your database and log contain a total of 10581 contacts, 272 were from the CQWPXCW contest. The .TRN transaction backup also contains 272 contacts from this contest, verifying the record count in your log. The existence of the SQLite companion .wal and .shm files indicates that your computer suffered an abend of some sort, but your log is intact. HOW SHOULD YOU PROCEED? Did you perform a fresh install of N1MM+ and continue operating in the CQWPXCW contest? Is there now a new database and log with some contacts in it? Your answer to that question will determine if/how we blend together your contacts for one complete log. -larry (K8UT) toggle quoted messageShow quoted text ------ Original Message ------ From: "Jan Visser" <adresrjv@...> To: N1MMLoggerPlus@groups.io Sent: 2018-05-26 18:39:03 Subject: Re: [N1MMLoggerPlus] N1MM crashed and will not start .. #35264 Hello Larry Just got back from my work and reading your new updates! Glad to hear the options to get all back. After your first info you hint me about the TRN backup and saw the raw QSO's file. So that made me feel a little better at saturday during the WPX. I did not Install a fresh install afraid to mesh some of the databases. I had made a copy to a backup drive. So well after some moments I decided to go the old fashion way in the contest and installed the old ETM keyer and a paperlog (hi) and retyped it into a normal log program (logger32) . But had no way to know who work B4 so have been CQ-ing the test of the contest ..wow that 's hard work on that keyer..but it did still work. Made an other 400 QSO's . I did not knew the last number so guessed it was around 260 ..so start with number 261 in the second start of the contest... HOW SHOULD I PROCEED? Wonder what is the best option now? Remove the N1mm and do a new install. Does the new install find the old database? Can I after the new install find the old database and connect it? If I can connect it I can make a adif file from the lost QSO and try to merge it with the adif file from the other logger and next try to make a cabrillo file Problem with the PC was maybe the heat of the processor. It was very hot this weekend and in the shack around 30 C / 86F ..but I can't say for sure. after the crash the PC did shut down when I restart it. After a wait from 15 min it did start again and I did not have had problems in the next part of the contest. !!!!! But really you did make me happy with the fast reply and the hint from the TRN backup. I did not knew the backup was made Ok I wait for you tip if I now have to make a fresh install. alan@g8oo.com #35278 Hi Guys I have quickly downloaded and got TRN Mirror working but it look as if it’s an old piece of software for N1MM as I have followed the K8UT’s software’s PDF instructions but cannot see how to action the TRN backup in the N1MM+ other file. Any suggestions TTFN AlanH g8oo toggle quoted messageShow quoted text From: N1MMLoggerPlus@groups.io [mailto:N1MMLoggerPlus@groups.io] On Behalf Of Bill KO7SS via Groups.Io K3CT wrote: "Make sure you do not allow mirroring, computer scanning, or backup of the Logger+ Databases directory while the program is running. #35280 Alan Those instructions were written back when you needed to enable TRN files. N1MM + now creates the .TRN files by default. {{K8UT needs to update the instructions...}} -larry (K8UT) toggle quoted messageShow quoted text ------ Original Message ------ From: alan@... #35281 Hi Bill >Should we not be using K8UT's TRN Mirror program for back-up? A reasonable question. With N1MM+, the creation of .TRN transaction files is now automatic. With each contact you log in the database, a journaling entry is written to the associated TRN file. If you were to suffer from a database failure, you could recover a contest's log from its TRN file. This solution has been valuable in a few rare database crashes. But for those of you who might be concerned about a non-N1MM failure - power supply, hard drive, motherboard... (?) - TRN Mirror supervises the TRN file and copies those files somewhere else - beyond the PC being used in the contest - could be another PC, a thumb drive, a file server, or to the cloud. TRN Mirror never touches the active database, and is immune from the risks of some other mirroring applications that read the live database in real-time. -larry (K8UT) toggle quoted messageShow quoted text ------ Original Message ------ From: "Bill KO7SS via Groups.Io" <ko7ss@...> To: N1MMLoggerPlus@groups.io Sent: 2018-05-28 20:58:38 Subject: Re: [N1MMLoggerPlus] N1MM crashed and will not start ..
