Job Title: Camp Operations and Guest Group Director

Paradise Point Camp, a ministry of the Episcopal Church in Idaho, seeks a dynamic Camp Operations and Guest Group Director to oversee all camp operations and guest group management. Reporting to the Bishop of the Episcopal Church in Idaho, this role collaborates closely with the Camp Program Director to ensure the fulfillment of the camp's mission of spiritual growth and leadership development through faith, fellowship, and fun. Responsibilities include managing guest group bookings, coordinating food service and guest programming, and maintaining agreements, as well as budget development, facilities maintenance, and staff supervision. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field, along with previous camp operations experience and strong leadership skills. Responsibilities:

Camp Operations and Guest Group Management:

  • Provide oversight of all Paradise Point Camp operations.
  • Manage guest group bookings, scheduling, and management of agreements.
  • Coordinate food service and programming for guest groups.

Budget/Finance:

  • Collaborate with the Camp Program Director to develop an annual budget.
  • Implement and control budgetary measures.
  • Establish, evaluate, and adjust rates and fees with approval from Paradise Point Committee (PPC).

Facilities Maintenance:

  • Ensure compliance with ACA, ADA, and OSHA facility standards.
  • Coordinate maintenance of utilities, including power, communication, waste disposal, water, and sewer.
  • Monitor water treatment processes and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance tasks.
  • Manage grounds and buildings upkeep, repairs, and pest control.
  • Liaise with Idaho Department of Lands for forestry management.
  • Arrange snow removal and tree removal services as necessary.

Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with comprehensive general liability, worker compensation, and personal property insurance policies.
  • Implement strategies for risk mitigation and emergency response.
  • Vigilant on fire safety and all property hazards.

Licenses/Regulations:

  • Maintain compliance with regulations from Central District Health Department, FCC, DEQ, OSHA, Idaho Department of Lands, Idaho Timber Association, Idaho Fish and Game, Idaho Department of Transportation, and Southern Idaho Timber Protection Agency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in camp operations, facility management, or hospitality industry.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and risk management practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Minimum age of 25 years old.
  • Completion to satisfaction of national criminal background check.
  • Ability to live on-site at Paradise Point Camp up to 6 months of year.
  • Ability to live and work in a rugged, outdoor environment in McCall, Idaho for up to 6 months of year.

Reporting Structure: Operations and Guest Group Director is a co-director position working collaboratively with the Camp Program Director. Both directors are overseen by the Bishop of the Episcopal Church in Idaho.

Working Conditions:

  • Outdoor Environment: The camp operates primarily in an outdoor setting in the rustic wilderness of McCall, Idaho. Employees should be prepared to work in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and occasional cold temperatures.
  • Physical Demands: The position may require physical exertion and the ability to engage in activities such as lifting up to 50lbs, accessing attic and crawl spaces, walking on rough uneven ground, and physical labor related to maintenance of 50+ acres of property.
  • Remote Location: The camp is located in a remote area, away from urban amenities. McCall is 8 miles from the property.
  • Camp Facilities: Employees will have access to basic camp facilities, including rustic cabins, communal dining areas, and restroom facilities. Accommodations may be shared with other staff members.
  • Evening and Weekend Work: The nature of camp operations may require employees to work evenings, weekends, and possibly overnight shifts during camp sessions. Flexibility in scheduling is essential to meet the needs of the camp program.
  • Team Environment: The camp operates as a close-knit community where teamwork and collaboration are essential. Employees should be comfortable working closely with colleagues and interacting with campers in a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Safety Precautions: The safety and well-being of campers and staff are paramount. Employees will receive training in safety protocols, emergency procedures, and first aid/CPR to ensure a safe and secure camp environment for all participants. Full time employees are expected to maintain their certifications for the duration of their employment.

Salary/Benefits: Exempt position – $45,000-$55,000/year, 9% pension (no match required, increase during mid-May through mid-October), insurance (health, dental, eye, and EAP start immediately). Room and board included from mid-May through mid-October, $15,000 housing stipend for use mid-October through mid-May.
