Watch this quick 5 minute glimpse into my summer internship at the Mayflower Bocawina National Park! The customer is always the foremost focus in business. That is why this week I’ve been doing process improvement with the park Warden, Israel Pau, and am focusing on the customer experience. At the park, every customer experience starts with check-in. We’ve been analyzing that process and converting paper check-in data to Excel workbooks for analytics. Hopefully breaking down this process will allow us to cut down on lead times and produce useful data insights for marketing and revenue generation.#thisishowweintern #waltonsupplychain #supplychain Brian Fugate J.B. With the semester underway, I wanted to be sure that I highlight the wonderful experience I had interning at fairlife this summer! If you’ve spoken to me anytime within the last four months, I very likely mentioned how great of a time I was having, but here’s a quick recap just in case.I worked as the Channel & Customer Strategy Intern, under the management of the awesome Rebecca Cohen. I learned more about large grocery stores than I thought I ever could (just ask my college friends – we can no longer take a trip to the store without me sharing some fun facts about how they run)! In this role, I created insight-rich slides for 2024 plans, utilized my Excel skills to develop charts and calculations, helped create slides for the sales team to use in conversations with retailers, built summary Mekko charts, went on market/store visits to observe consumers and understand how a product gets to shelf, and learned how to use both Numerator and Nielsen IQ Discover to pull some really interesting reports. I also took a trip to the National Restaurant Association Show in McCormick Place, where I learned all how CPG companies develop, test, and market new products. In my main project, I made strategic recommendations based on data and insights as to how fairlife can compete with the growth of competitors. The final report was over 60 slides long and covered multiple topics, and I was so proud to present it to multiple teams within the company. HUGE thanks to Rebecca Cohen – her leadership and openness made my experience 100 times better, and I loved how many projects she involved me in. Thank you as well to Lauren Sellers, who planned a one-of-a-kind internship experience. (Our onboarding week was a blast, and I loved being able to travel to Coopersville and see a plant in person!) My team (Dean Weber, MBA, Dawn Helle-Peck, and Chris Ohmstede) were always supportive and taught me so much about the differences between all the channels. Ashley Lecheler and Eileen Thanner both gave great advice throughout the span of my internship and were always available to answer questions I had. In general, thank you to the WHOLE team at fairlife, LLC – it truly was the greatest internship experience I could have asked for. Finally, thank you to Andrew Bryant, who encouraged me to apply for this internship – you said that you thought I’d enjoy it, and you were right!Internship applications are open now! If you have questions about my experience, I’d love to chat more about it!

This week I worked 3 hour at my internship. On my first day this week I was tasked to package mini bars as most of the tasks for the day had been completed. since there was less to do today, I spent the day packing the bars and organizing bars that had finished cooling. On the second day this week, I was given the opportunity to review a marketing opportunity that Paul had been offered to Paul. The goal of the plan was to raise awareness for Maverick Chocolate as a luxury chocolate brand in Cincinnati. This overview allowed me to relate my internship directly to my marketing course and gave me insight on strategies implemented by marketing companies. Some of the strategies included using keywords on google for advertising, using negative keywords to insure maverick is not found when looking up something unwanted, and using geofencing in order to raise awareness when customers buy from competitors. The plan had tracking goals, a target audience, a timeline, and a geographical area which allowed it to coordinate and implement its goals most efficiently. Afterwards Paul’s showed me how the works. The new grinder is much more efficient and takes only a few minutes to cycle the beans through three times, grounding them into nibs to be used for chocolate. The second new machine allowed us easily prepare the ingredients for the chocolate and mix them perfectly. By pumping the chocolate from the bottom of the mixer back to the top the machine is continuously churning and grinding the nibs, sugar, and butter together, creating a smooth consistency to be molded.#TheBusinessLaunchExperienceThe Business Launch Experience

The summer 2022 internship at Banca Transilvania had a huge impact on me and pursued me to follow up with the Marketing department in fall 2022. I learned from them that a successful manager understands the process responsible for identifying, anticipating and satisfying customer requirements for profitability. During those 2 weeks, I developed skills in market research, product design and blog design, pricing, advertising and distribution and customer service.
