Chapter Text

“Wait. Let me get this straight. You know the client?” They were seated inside the living room and it was like stepping back in time. The furniture had been updated, but otherwise the house looked remarkably like it had when he was little.

The kids, Hotsuki and Momiji were sitting by the coffee table, and Bakugou was sitting on the couch opposite him and Yuki-san.

“Yes.” He said, shifting in his seat and playing nervously with the hem of his blouse.

“And Bakugou-san, you know the nanny?” The very tall, very well built, entirely too muscular man nodded, eyes narrowing on Izuku for a moment.

Izuku kept his eyes averted anywhere but at the man before them. When had Kacchan gotten so attractive?

“This is a breach of protocol and you know it!” Yuki-san was very upset. Clearly. And she was five shades of red. She had been waving her alpha repellent around for the last five minutes.

“Ah! Yuki-san! Please. Calm down. It’s ok. I haven’t seen him in eighteen years. We were children! It was a long time ago. I promise. Dynamight-san is a respected Pro Hero and well liked by the public.” He argued, finally standing. She had pulled her phone out and was now sending all her ire his way.

“You! This is why you were so weird in the car!” She accused. He could swear he could almost see little flames in her eyes.

Izuku turned and took step towards the children. Bakugou, much to his credit, hadn’t moved from his spot. He looked like he could explode something, however. His jaw was ticking with self-control.

“I have to call Nanamura-san! Midoriya-san. What is wrong with you? Knowing full well this was someone from your past…” Some of the fight left her and her shoulders sagged. She must have known enough about his past to warrant this reaction. He wondered how much Nanamura-san had told her. This wasn’t just about the breach in protocol.

“Hotsuki-chan, Momiji-kun. Can you do me a favor?” He turned and got down on the kid’s level. Hotsuki looked so much like her dad did when he was little, he had to take a moment to make sure he hadn’t time traveled. The little girl had her brother behind her and he was trying very hard to peek around her small frame. “Can you go pick out some toys you’d like to show me?”

“I still don’t know who you are, damn idiot.” The little girl muttered and Kami-sama did she sound just like her dad. A pang of something hit him in his chest, but he couldn’t dwell on it.

“I’m Midoriya Izuku.” He smiled, holding out a hand. “Thirty-two years old. Blood type O. I’m an omega and I’m quirkless. I’m your new nanny. It’s a pleasure to meat you, Bakugou Hotsuki-chan.” She glared at the offending hand and smacked it away.

Just like her dad.

f*ck this kid looked so much like her father and grandmother it was sending Izuku’s head spinning. Her eyes were a golden color, but her hair…her face…she was definitely a Bakugou.

“Hotsuki!” Bakugou was out of his seat in an instant but Izuku just raised his unscathed hand.

“It’s fine.” He said watching the two children leave. The older sister had her hand tightly around her brother’s as she stomped off. She even walked like him!

So many feelings, memories, and emotions fought to take hold and he had to remember to breathe, biting the inside of his cheek to ground himself. He turned to his Handler and frowned.

“It’s fine. I promise. Bakugou-san is a hero and he passed the background check. Please. I can’t just leave these kids. They need someone around when their father can’t be.” He thought he might have seen the hero in question stiffen slightly, but ignored it.

“Midoriya-san.” Yuki-san looked at him helplessly. “Izuku. You know I have to report this. I can’t ignore that the process didn’t work. We have to take measures—” Some of the fight left her.

Izuku shook his head vehemently. “It wasn’t the process. It was me. I honestly thought he wouldn’t even remember me. Really. If anyone is to blame, it’s me. The process is sound. I knew who he was and still agreed to the job.”

“Why would you do this? You know what can happen to omegas who become nanny’s for people they’ve known! What is wrong with you?” And she was back to furious again.

Honestly? He didn’t know why he did it. He missed his mom, and he missed his old friend. He missed what might have been if they’d stayed friends. He missed a lot of things. He just didn’t know how to tell her that and he could never in front of Bakugou.

“I have to do this, Midoriya-san.” She straightened her shoulders and turned, holding up her phone and furiously dialing numbers. She stepped into the genkan and left them alone for the moment. Izuku deflated and sat hard on the floor in front of the couch. He’d been aiming for the cushions but missed. Not that he’d admit that out loud.

“Deku…what the…f*ck? What the hell is all this? I applied for a nanny and you show up. I don’t understand.”

Izuku wiped his sweaty hands on his pants and sat on his knees.

“Surprise.” He said weekly, trying to smile. All things considered, it was good to see him. He was…he was tall. Izuku had stopped growing around sixteen. He’d also presented as an omega late. His quirk had just never manifested. He was essentially a walking enigma. Society shunned him. He was lucky enough to have a really great brain, but that was about all he had going for him. He was able to lie when questioned and say his quirk was Analysis or something. It usually worked.

“Uh, look,” He began, standing. He took a step towards the pro hero, a man who he hadn’t seen in almost two decades, and bit his lip. He stopped short and let his shoulders slump. “I’m probably going to be replaced. I just…” He trailed off, not sure how to say the words exactly. “I’m glad I got to see you again.” His smile was a little watery and a whole lot weary.

“Deku…what the f*ck is going on? I don’t understand any of this. One minute my kid is answering the door to some stranger and the next…it’s you.”

Yeah. Just him. Deku. Useless, nerdy, weak, little, quirkless, omega Deku.

Ouch.

He was saved from having to answer. “Midoriya-san.” Yuki-san’s voice interrupted and he turned, face schooled and hands folded neatly in front of him.

This should be good.
